Air-cooled inline 6 turbo diesel...
German, of course...

Deutz, of course.

The ultimate, most ridiculous Deutz of all time is probably the V16 twin-turbo.

Six turbos! Who would of thought?

Perfect for any engine swap!

I actually researched the prices on them a bit, and some of the V16 Deutzes apparently go for >$100,000 new - though I saw where one had sold for only like $10,000. So, it’s pricey, but not out of the realm of possibility for a road tractor-based hot rod.

Those turbos look way small.

Well, if you’re only pushing the same amount of air needed to get a thousand horsepower out of a 2JZ, and the engine is eleventy billion times bigger, it happens.

Needs more Deutz V10. Because everything needs more V10.

Used to know a guy who had that very same engine model, in a late 70's F150 with a manual transmission. He got it for cheap from his uncle who’d owned it since new and did the conversion a long time before, on sentimental reassurances. Turns out what he really wanted was a cheap rig to hoon on logging roads. Got it stuck in the woods several months later, then used it as a target for years. People are awful sometimes.

Now I’m stuck on youtube watching Deutz vids. Not an I6 turbo, but man does this one sound good.
